PAX is on!

Hopefully a lot of you are familiar with the Penny Arcade comic strip series, dating back into the depths of the 20th century. If not, then you're definitely missing out on one of the funnier, if not also scathing, comic strips available to the people of the Internet.
Personally, I didn't get into Penny Arcade until recently. Believe me, when you make the decision to go the very first comic in the series and read forward to the present day, you almost cry when you realise how old all the games/cultural references are. Better late than never though.
The whole point of this ramble is to point out that the Penny Arcade Expo is on again. This gamer appreciation extravaganza really makes me wish I could spend less money on games, internet and alcohol and more on plane tickets to the US to take part. Not that games and drinking aren't wholesome activities, but with gaming still treated like a little kid's past-time by the media despite the amazing advances in technology and the increased investment over the past few decades, there need to be more gatherings which bring gamers together just to simply appreciate one of our chosen past-times. Especially here in Australia!
Not that we don't have gaming events of our own, but having our own version of E3 would be fantastic. Somewhere for the developers to meet with the media and public to not only dispel some of game's negative myths, but to also show that Australia is a big player on the gaming field. Bioshock probably wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for 2K Australia, after all!
