Duke Nukem's Back ... No, Really!
December 20th 2007 06:45
Ladies and Gentlemen, Hell hath frozen over. For today, after years of silence, Duke Nukem has returned ... you can stop laughing now, besides it's December not April.
3D Realms has released a brand new trailer for the game that everyone has forgotten (or at least tried to) after the many many years of delays, proving once and for all that someone out there still cares for the one time king of rudeness.
Here's the details. It's still called Duke Nukem Forever (and ever, and ever); the visuals of the one minute long trailer introduce characters similar to those of Duke Nukem 3D; the game engine is no doubt based upon 3D Realms last outing, the fairly decent Prey; there's no actual game play footage in the trailer; and it ends with the words 'Stay Tuned', which doesn't really come as much of a surprise at all, with no release date mentioned.
You can check out the trailer via the official website. But as always, don't hold your breath, it could be another year before we, at long last, get our hands on the title.
Personally, unless there's somewhat of a miracle involved, I don't see much else but a half decent, perhaps funny game out of this one. It won't break new ground, but if it doesn't suck something rotten, then the wait might actually be worth it after all.

In the faux world where 'players' take themselves more seriously than in the real world, the Duke was a fabulous and grotesquely amusing departure from usual gaming...well...until the gangster car game thingy...no...still think the Duke takes em all...beer cans and porno booths and all!!!
anyhoo,
merry xbox y'all and a happy new console!
